a lion on the streets

Towards the end of last year, I collaborated with my awesome friend and photographer, Maricel Sison. I took a break from styling for awhile because I stopped enjoying the process. It became frustrating instead of being a creative outlet. I had more fun styling for free than getting paid for it, so I decided that teaming up with my talented friends would be the best solution. Plus, at the end of the day, working with my friends is the dream job.

I’m excited to start on some new projects this year but for now, here are a few photos from the shoot featuring the downtown LA lion:

I’ve always been a fan of Pharrell Williams and to this day,
“In Search Of” is one of my favorite albums. I will never forget the day I met him at his studio in LA, at the time, I was working on a project with a singer and we had the opportunity to potentially work with him. The project unfortunately was never sealed, but its amazing to meet someone who is down-to-earth. There’s nothing you can say negative about him, he’s just an all around likable guy.

In this interview with Scott Stout, Pharrell talks about how he collaborated with Marc Jacobs.

afghanistan

A stunning look at the people of Afghanistan.
It saddens me that our media portrays a nation of violence and hatred. I personally don’t have an interest in the political reasons as to why Afghanistan became America’s enemy because It’s blatantly clear that greed and power is the reason why our world is in such turmoil. Regardless what we’re told to believe, Afghanistan is still a country where everyday people like us live.

Hanneli’s fresh, street style looks are being ranked among the best of the best. You can see her effortless looks on Vogue.com and Net-a-Porter. Her big break as a model was at age 17 when a photographer discovered her and her sister in their hometown, Oslo, Norway. Now at age 28, she’s traveled all over the world and has become one of fashion’s most influential blogger.

Whenever I’m down and I’m in need of some encouraging words or want to read something to remind me that I’m not the only one feeling like my world is completely berserk, I go to raaachem’s blog and I find myself reading an entry that hits me like a ton of bricks. This did exactly that!

And the book was immediately purchased on Amazon after I stopped myself from crying my ass off. Its disappointing how I can be such an emotional girl at times.

Every time I come across an awesome photo, I save it on my laptop for future inspiration. I’ve had a long distance relationship with my laptop for a while now because its been at my boyfriend’s place but now that I’ve finally been able to look through my photos, I’ve stumbled across some of the best street style photographs.

This is exactly why I love designers like Phillip Lim.
Using a simple thought and transforming that idea into an art form that becomes your own completely new idea.
